I have decided to take freelancing seriously at last. Up to this point, I have relied almost soley on referrals from gamers, and personal networking, which to be honest only gets one so far in a small town like Santa Fe, TX. To that end I am extending my presence on the web, sharing my work, my thoughts, my insights with whomever chooses to look.
I have also finally put up an all inclusive portfolio of my work at deviant art portfolios. This is a new service the company is providing for free, of course it also has upgrade options for a few. That said, the free service is perfectly acceptable and highly professional.
I have also signed up on Elance, we shall see how that turns out. It seems like a very professional freelance site, that creates work oppurtunities not only for those who have been there forever, but for the new user as well. I am particularly impressed with the skills test feature, allowing providers to certify thier skills. I will keep you up to date on my thoughts on thier service as I go.

The first order of business, before I can begin to bid on anything of worth, is to pump up my sadly lacking portfolio. While I may know I have the skills, my current portfolio does not reflect that as well as I’d like it to. I have some projects coming up, that will help with that already, and I might just have to create some imaginary clients as well:). Ideas anyone?
